That's right, ghosts and goblins. I'm making myself a Ghostbusters costume, and I mean MAKE it, not get one of those cheap-ass store-bought costumes. I refuse for two reasons: 1.) They look crappy and are no fun (The packs are BLOW-UP and use guns, not NEUTRONA WANDS), B.) The dumb bimbo in the picture for the female version is wearing the Proton Pack upside-down ([link])... Well, I'm making the Proton Pack, the Ghost Traps, and maybe a pair of Ecto Goggles, at least. The flight suit will have to be gotten from eBay, and I already have two ALICE packs (The metal frames that the packs sit on that will allow me to carry it on my back).

Now, one might ask, "David, why are you doing this? Halloween is over!" That being said, Halloween was short and disappointing. But it wasn't just that. I've always loved Ghostbusters, but watching it this Halloween and the arrival of the video game really sparked that fandom, and then I found a new costume, a costume that would look awesome, that everyone would recognize but still be a unique costume (How many Ghostbusters do you see in the streets of Auburn that AREN'T in a crappy, store-bought costume? I know of only one, but more on him later.)

And then I found two others that are just as enthused about it as I am, and they agreed to make their own costumes with me. Then after that, I found a whole community at gbfans.com. They've been a huge help when it comes to costuming. They have everything, from plans to parts lists. Our packs are going to look awesome. They even helped me find a member of the Birmingham/Alabama Ghostbusters that lives right here in Auburn/Opelika! I've been talking with him, and he's been a huge help!

I plan on starting the costume in the summer as a summer project, and I'm getting a job for the necessary funds. I plan on posting work-in-progress pictures as I go along.

An issue that has come up before is "why are you making something you can only use once?" This couldn't be farther from the truth. There's a HUGE list of events going on in Alabama/Georgia that the Birmingham Ghostbusters attend, and I get to be apart of those events!
